Dynamic poetry · two-letter drift

The Old Pond, Crossing the Water

A pond, a shore, a tree in the wind. Two letters let the scene travel further. Read again from the top.

After Matsuo Bashō · English translation by Harry Behn
Dynamic adaptation by Tyler Burns

An old silent pond
A frog jumps into the pond—
Splash! Silence again.
Version 001 / 41 Original text

One or two letters are replaced in one word at each step. Every resulting word is an English word. The route follows three scenes, with stranger passages between them. The poem travels outward, then retraces its steps home.
